(My real story—from scam to strategy)

I first heard about Bitcoin in 2015.
I didn’t understand it. I didn’t trust it.
Back then, I was still living in Taiwan, focused on life and survival—not financial systems.

In 2017, I married my husband Ken and moved to the U.S. the following year. I had saved some money for documents and basic living expenses—barely enough to get started in a new country.

That’s when I came across a page on Instagram promising 10x returns in a week.
It looked legit. I “did my research.”
And eventually, I sent $2,000 worth of Bitcoin to a man I’d never met.

Every day, he sent me profit updates. The numbers kept going up.
Ken and I were ecstatic—we thought we had struck gold.

Then came the withdrawal.
He said the payout was large, so I needed to send a security fee.
I panicked. Trusted. And sent another $1,000.

And then… silence.
No response. No payout. No money.
I had lost $3,000—everything I had.
And I was in a new country with no job, no income, and no safety net.

That experience almost crushed me.
Not just financially, but emotionally.
I was ashamed. Embarrassed.
I even offered Ken a divorce.

But he looked at me and said:

“We had good times together. We can have bad times together.
Who said you can just leave?” (😭)

That moment grounded me.
It reminded me that mistakes don’t define us—how we respond does.

For a year, I avoided crypto completely.
Then in 2020, I started watching U.S. politics more closely—and the topic of cryptocurrency kept resurfacing.
But this time, I was different.
Wiser. Sharper. Slower to trust.

Ken and I started learning from scratch.
We bought a cold wallet.
We studied tokenomics.
We didn’t invest in anything we didn’t fully understand.
And we no longer expected anyone to bring us profit.
Because we knew—we had to become our own compass.
